WOLK CENTER FOR EXCELLENCE IN NURSING EARNS SILVER LEED CERTIFICATION
The Louis S. and Molly B. Wolk Center for Excellence in Nursing recently received LEED Silver certification from the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). Pike provided construction management services for this two-story addition adjoining Monroe Community College Buildings #8 and #9. This addition created a new home for MCC’s growing Nursing Program.
The building incorporates many economical and environmental, energy-saving aspects including sustainable site design, water efficiency, energy efficiency, materials and resources, and indoor environmental quality. Notable sustainable features include low-flow plumbing, a highly reflective roof, and a building envelope that optimizes energy performance. The facility also contains at least 20 percent overall recycled content which has been manufactured, harvested or recovered within 500 miles of the college.
